From Mitt Romney in Sacramento to Meg Whitman in Santa Clara March 2010

It was the weekend of the California Republican Convention. I first drove out to the Borders bookstore in Sacramento where Mitt Romney was signing his new book "No Apology". Driving rain on Friday morning could not keep me from being 45 minutes early to ensure I got a book signed. Sporting my "Meg Whitman for Governor" T shirt, I talked to Marilyn Singleton, MD, while in the line. She was carrying a 1966 Stanford yearbook which posted a picture of a very young Mitt Romney. I had a bookstore employee take my picture with Mitt and I personally took some pictures of Marilyn getting her Stanford yearbook signed.

The following Saturday morning started out at the Hyatt Regency Santa Clara where I was invited to a meeting of Meg Whitman volunteers in the Magnolia room. While wandering the Hyatt, Carly Fiorina walked out of a meeting room and right past me. Don't know if she saw my Chuck Devore sticker on my jacket, I will be supporting Chuck over Carly for the Senate seat, but just about anyone is better than Boxer!

A flurry of well and not so well known Republicans made speeches before Meg came out. Darrell Issa was the most impressive of the bunch, Tony Strickland is less well known, but maybe that will help him win the Controller position he is running for, it is going to be a big Republican year due to the out of control spending going on in the state and the fed. Meg finally came out to make a short speech. She talked again about the new California which we all hope will come under her leadership. Many others got away with it so I gathered the courage to ask her to take a picture with me and "Got er done!".
