Flew on Quantas from SFO to LAX, from LAX a 15 hour flight to Melbourne. Nice hotel but Melbourne architecture is mixed at best. Took the free inner city tram, which was worth what we paid. Construction of high rises everywhere. Queen Victoria market was not even worth buying a T shirt. No big malls, the best shopping is in these "arcades" which have smaller entrances that open up into larger, sometimes upscale stores.
Fed and petted some kangaroos and saw the bashful koalas on our way to Phillips Island. The Island shows off these world famous foot tall penguins that swim all day then swarm in at sundown. Got some pics of the very beautiful area before sunset, but no pics at all of when the penguins come in.
