Mitt Romney at Regan House Sept 2012

This was a fund raiser for Mitt Romney run at the home of Ada Regan in Hillsborough, Ca. on Sept 21, 2012. I paid the minimum $1000 for the privilege. Its started by parking at the Crocker Middle School in Hillsborough, from there they ran a series of buses to the Regan House. The road up to the house reminds one of the Amalfi Coast, its just about one lane up a hill. The house itself is something like the Vatican, it has a number of statues on the top of the flat roof. The gate was an immense thing made of wrought old world iron.

It started out with David Foster, the 16 time Grammy winner. And he reminded us of that several times. He sang and played a few tunes then brought out a fantastic young singer who is shown in the images and a video. Foster did the same for Meg Whitman during her campaign for Governor of California.

George Schultz did about a 10 minute introduction of Mitt Romney. He did quite well tho seemed out of breath now and then.

When Mitt got up, he said that George is 91 years old. He then asked George if that was right, and George did not immediately respond, so Mitt quipped that George could not remember his age. It was funny only because George was quite with it.

Mitt's speech told several stories of entrepreneurs he has met on the campaign trail. These were not Bill Gates types, they were mostly small businessmen who found a niche and exploited it. He told a story of one woman whose furniture outlet sold only hospital waiting room furniture. While many of her local competition died in response to Chinese manufacturing, she found an area where she could compete.

When the fund raiser ended, they closed the gates so that no one could leave until the busses showed up. Well, the first bus showed up about 20 minutes after the event was done. Not a lot of happy campers after that.
